EJCDC® CMA‑523, Construction Subcontract—Construction Manager as Advisor Series (2021), is intended to be used to form the contract between a general contractor and a subcontractor. A subcontractor performs part of the Work that is required under the Contractor’s contract with the project owner. Defining the scope of the Subcontract Work is an essential function of the Subcontract. Typically, the Subcontract Work is performed at the project site, often in conjunction with the work activities of the Contractor itself and other subcontractors, and therefore safety, indemnity, and insurance provisions are of prominent importance.
